Today we decide to travel further afield. We pour over maps of the island for possible entry points, anomalies etc. Dr Rumour is drawn to a bay called Chinaman's Beach. This is of interest for our research as during the 1860's the island was all but abandoned except by some Chinese abalone fishermen. Dr Rumour proposes a theory of encounter.

We decide to trek to Chinamans Beach which is on the isthmus, a narrow band of land that connects the two parts of the island. A small group was quickly organised consisting of eminent scientists from Hungary and Hong Kong.

The trek was long and difficult. As we approached the isthmus we became lost in swampy and intractable terrain. The compass needle became erratic. A force of some sort was making itself felt. Maybe a vortex of magnetic fields? We had to abandon the compass and trust our own intuitions. Luckily both our colleagues had PhD's in Intuition and 7th Sense Orientation and they found the path to the isthmus.

The isthmus was beautiful. A long narrow band of beach with a circular bay of water. We scoured the beach for data and collected many strange plant forms as well as elongated sound waves.
